On arrival at Narita airport we managed to find our way easily to the shuttle bus which took us straight to Narita Garden Hotel for our first night. The real fun began the next day after making our way to Narita Train Station, bound for Shinjuku, our main accommodation for our first week. Japan's rail system is confusing to say the least. So many different lines, different companies and different destinations makes the system quite difficult to understand. However, as we stood there looking like a couple of lost, foolish tourists staring at the giant rail map in front of us, a very helpful, and polite man approached us and helped us on our way to the correct platform. Despite the language difference he managed to get us into the right direction, even helping us buy the correct ticket required for to get us there. He later approached us on the platform with a note in which he had listed the times for our trains and the different train lines/stations we would have to change at. Needless to say, we were extremely appreciative.
Today we visited Akihabara, otherwise know as 'Electric Town'. Electronics, anime and video game stores line the streets of this bright, vibrant, dedicated shopping district.

| Yes there are vending machines EVERYWHERE, but we are yet to see any with...questionable products. |
I'm somewhat disappointed in the lack of questionable vending machines - hopefully you'll find some later in your trip :P
ReplyDeleteHave fun :D
It was good reading about your first couple of days. The streets don't look as busy as I expected.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look busy in these pictures, but trust me...it was!
ReplyDeleteforget about the questionable vending machines. have you found the karaoke bars ???????????
ReplyDeleteI bet Akihabara was amazing! Did you end up buying alot from there?
ReplyDeleteGlad to know that despite the language barrier, people are still more than obliging to help the clueless tourists i.e. you and Zak ahaha.
Btw, I would be more than happy to accept any questionable item from questionable vending machine as a souvenir~~xDD Oh, and I am still so not jealous, lol.
Stay safe and keep more posts coming!
